Is there anything more important than truth?

See how Honest Abe dealt with truth in this clip.

On April 14, 2010 I posted an article titled: What if the Truth Hurts?

In that article I posed the following two questions:

1)     The truth can hurt – so does that give us the right to hurt with it?

2)     The truth can hurt – so does that give us the permission to lie or avoid it?

The answer to both questions is no.

If you want to build lasting relationships with your clients, customers, and colleagues, you have to be honest. Lying or trying to sidestep the truth can cause much deeper hurt and even mistrust. Some people try to hide the truth, others try to change it, and some try to ignore it, but truth will always stand the test of time.

Jeffrey Gitomer once said:

If you dig deep inside trust, you will find truth.

Highly Productive People are honest even when the truth hurts. There is no other option for long-term success.

How do you deal with truth when it seems easier to hide it, change it, or ignore it?

What truth do you need to deal with today?
